September Goals

So, I wasn’t really good at sticking to my goals in August, and I’m not really holding my breathe for this month. With having my mom in country, a lot of craft time is spent on things that are important to her or that she can take back to family. However, that isn’t going to stop me from setting some goals. For the most part, my goals are similiar to the ones from the previous month. I will put a bit more focus on the WIPGO projects. In addition, in terms of months, I consider September, October, and November to be the “Fall” months. So I will be tailoring my season goals towards those months. I’ve decided to make a goal of 1000 stitches per a seasonal goal… HOWEVER, this will be a season long goal, not one that needs to be completed in a single month. If I find that goal isn’t big enough, I will adjust it later in the season. Until then, below are my September goals.

So I spent the last few hours updating the blog and rearranging things. One thing I just couldn’t get off my mind was my October 2017 Goals post. Yes, I know I never really followed through on it. But this is something that I have decided I want to really try to do again. I had forgotten that I used to divide the goals into categories and then use that as a check list. So below I am going to make some goals. I may revisit them in the coming days as challenges are released. Again, I am the Absolute Worst

So it has been years since I touched this blog. I’m not even sure what made me think about it again. Since my last post, a lot has changed in my life. I took up knitting. I’ve gotten married. I am a dog mom to two Maltipoos. I quit my job just as COVID-19 Shelter in Place took affect, which means I couldn’t get a new job in the industry I had wanted to work in (library). So I’m not working at the moment. All of the above means that this time I have to seriously implement a stitch from stash.

Gracie and Georgie sleeping. They’re inseparable.

I was looking through my past posts and I saw my 10 hour rotation and I’ve been really wanting to do that again. I just worry that I won’t be able to because I’m in way too many stitching challenge groups. But maybe now is the time to try it. So much has changed that I obviously need to create new categories. There may end up being more than 12. I don’t know. I’m up to 185 WIPs and I would really like to try to WIP down (but I’m addicted to starts…)

I am thinking of making 1000 stitch goals. I can create a small update every week with stitch count updates and pictures . Sort of an accountability thing. I would like to implement this stating August first so in the mean time, I have a lot of updating to do on the blog. Take down some pages and create other pages. So let’s see what happens.

I am the absolute worst

I am the absolute worst craft blogger in the world. I wish I was exaggerating. But this is the first update in a year. And before that was the first update in three years.

Anyway, I just spent about three hours updating the blog and I created a new page that is about my 2018 Year of WIPS plans (PS: I did not stick to the rotation plan… that lasted all of one month). I’m thinking what I will try to do this time around is to update the blog once a month at the end of the month with progress pics as I try to complete my WAY TOO ambitious of goals for 2018. I’m hoping, however, that as one goal gets taken care of, more progress will be made on some of the more ambitious goals.

Here’s to hoping anyway…

Rotation 2017 Plans

Since I have probably around 100 WIPs (I’m scared to count them) and most are BAPs, I plan to do a Stitch From Stash for the whole year. I also tend to be a serial starter and a never finisher and I would really like to change that. I picked twelve designer / designs and my plan is to stitch 10 hours on each before cycling back around. However, because I am a moody stitcher, I’m not saying that it has to be to work on a project for 10 hours before moving on to the next. Just, the rotation ends when each project has 10 hours worked on it. And to not go over the 10 hours by more than an hour or so (sometimes you get really into a project and you lose track of time). Once I have put in the ten hours in my rotation I will strike out the project. Once all categories are crossed off, the rotation will begin again. You will notice that some of the categories have multiple projects. I do not need to work on the same project for the whole ten hours. So, for example, I could stitch 5 hours on Giant Harry Potter, 3 hours on Walking Venice and 2 hours on Spooky World SAL to get my ten hours for Cloudsfactory). So my rotation at this moment is:

(1) Serengeti Mandala by Chatelaine – gift for my Mom and Dad
(2) London Mandala by Chatelaine – gift for younger sister 2
(3) Paris Mandala by Chatelaine – gift for younger sister 1
(4) Dressmaker’s Daughter by Mirablia – gift for younger sister 3
(5) Brooke’s Books – I have the Wonderland Series and I signed up for her Fairytales Dress up project.
(6) Country Cottage – Have the cottage of the month series and the Santa’s Village series.
(7) Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery – I have the Merry Bright Club, the Trick or Treat Club, the National Parks pattern, and the Story Time Sampler
(8) Cloudsfactory – I have the It’s a Spooky World SAL and plan on getting the christmas one too when released. Also have Giant Harry Potter. And walking in Venice and Walking in Paris (gifts for Sisters 1&2)
(9) Celtic Ladies – I have all 5 Celtic ladies from Lavender & Lace
(10) Northern Expression – Have Twisted Rainbow, Twisted Band, Esther’s Waves, and the Mini Twisted patterns
(11) Advent Animals – Yes, I know this is from Brooke’s Books but I want to finish these and turn them into ornaments so they get there own place in the rotation
(12) Heaven and Earth Design – If I listed what I have started here, this list would never stop. Probably 50 starts
(13) Tentative Category for “Others”. I have a lot of WIPs that I love that don’t fit in any of the above so if I get one screaming at me, the time spent on that will come out of this category. But again, only 10 hours per a rotation.

Major Revamping about to Take Place

It has been a long time since I have updated this blog. Nearly three years. And I feel bad about that. I miss documenting my work. That being said, I have branched off a lot on my style and crafts since I originally started this blog. So I am going to have to work hard to get things how I want them. But I really want to do it. So I will be spending the upcoming months re-organizing and deciding what I want my crafts blog to be. And also, hopefully, organize myself so I don’t have well over 100 WIPS.

Turtle Trot 2014

Turtle Trot 2014

Okay, this is like a day late, but I literally only just found out about it and it is still January 10th in my timezone….

Anyway, this is the Turtle Trot 2014

That Rules:

1. You must have a blog, because you’ll be posting links to it. If you don’t have a blog, you can still work on those old projects, lol. You just won’t be eligible for the contest.
2. Pick 10 unfinished projects (why not 14 for 2014? I can’t cope with where this will end up – 43 projects in 2043? Yikes)
3. Take a picture of them and make a blog post by the 10th of January.
4. Each month, by the 10th, post whatever progress pics you have.
5. Post a link to your progress post here.
